“An Grianan Theatre, Letterkenny secured funding under the PEACE III programme to undertake a Cross-Border, Cross-Community Reminiscence Project in partnership with Reminiscence Network Northern Ireland, Voice of Older People and The Alley Theatre. The project has three distinct phases:
Through a process of interviews and workshops we aim to draw out and borrow the reminiscences of older people using image, music, smells and objects. We have a number of specially trained facilitators who will run the workshops. The workshops and interviews will be recorded and archived for use in the second phase.
The second phase will involve the collation and digital archiving of the stories gathered. The archive will be in visual and audio formats and the reminiscences will be presented as a multi-sensory portable exhibition
The final phase involves the drawing together of the harvested stories and the production of a theatre show, which will be created to tour into any small hall or performance space, so that we bring the borrowed memories back to the original workshop participants. We will also tour the show to schools.”
If you are interested in participating in this project, please come along to a public meeting on Tuesday 12th June @ 7.00 p.m.
